Ashley Crites, one half of the group of Relative Renovations, described her main bedroom as “bland, grey, and the dumping floor for outdated furnishings”—not precisely an excellent place to spend a 3rd of your life. So when she had the chance to participate within the One Room Problem, she knew precisely which room to decide on.
Impressed by Brady Tolbert’s attractive tufted headboard, Ashley selected a deep inexperienced velvet to upholster headboard panels that span the width of the room. Foil-backed grasscloth wallpaper went up on the highest portion of the wall, and helps to brighten up the area.
Whereas she felt the room had grow to be a “dumping floor” for furnishings, there have been a number of items she needed to maintain, like her grandmother’s dresser. By mixing vintage items with trendy components, like her lighting fixtures and tabletop decor, she was capable of keep true to her unique design which embodied the “eclectic and picked up” really feel, all whereas holding her prices down.
Customized pillows could be a splurge, so when Ashley wasn’t capable of finding pillows she favored, she whipped up some luxurious cognac velvet and mudcloth customized pillows on her personal, for a fraction of what she would have paid retail.
The deep inexperienced from the upholstered headboard panels is repeated on an adjoining wall, this time with paint. It brings the drama and creates a visually gorgeous second with a gallery wall and distinctive chair that was discovered at a neighborhood flea market.
